Listen to My Introduction
Tim Schepers' Biography
Thank you for taking the time to view my website. My name is Tim Schepers and I am from the West Michigan area where I have lived for 31 years. I attended Grand Valley State University majoring in Social Studies with a minor in History. I recently completed the awesome Graduate Teacher Certification program and my student teaching placement at Holland Public Schools in Holland, Michigan. While in my placements, I was able to integrate the use of technology into many of the lessons I was able to teach, while sharpening focus on State standards for 6th and 7th grade Social Studies.
During my student assisting, I was able to have the unique experience of observing, assisting, and occasionally teaching for 3 full days per week. During this time I used my rare teaching opportunities to develop technology driven lessons that strayed from the standard curriculum while still maintaining a standards based education. I also accompanied my mentor teacher during lunch duty, where we observed the students for a 20-minute recess time. My student teaching was even more rewarding. I was placed in a different classroom in the same school district, grade level, and subject. Here, I was able to continue integrating new technology into my lessons creatively. I also enjoy volunteering at Camp Ao-Wa-Kiya. This is a summer camp on Stony Lake. Among the variety of opportunities I have had to work with secondary age students at camp was implementing a paintball program and course on camp grounds.
I am seeking the opportunity to serve as a teacher in your district. My teacher preparatory experiences have made me even more enthusiastic about using 21st century teaching methods that incorporate technology, collaborative work groups, differentiated instruction, and multiple intelligences. My passion is using technological creativity to challenge students to reach their highest potential and gain the confidence to succeed.
I would love the opportunity to learn more about your district and to speak to you about how I could be of service to your specific school.
Sincerely,
Tim Schepers
